If there's one thing that never lacks here at Lindersvold, it's the opportunity to play sports. Those of us who live here have found a way to stay active without stress, making the most of what the place offers. Let me tell you a bit about how we organize ourselves between team sports, individual workouts, and outdoor activities! We also have different challenges and milestones we've set for ourselves by the end of the month.

Sports at School

The gym is our go-to spot. Whenever we have some free time, we can use it for any activity.

Team Games – We often play basketball, volleyball, badminton, or indoor soccer. All you need is to gather a team, and you're good to go!

Individual Workouts – For those who prefer to work out alone, we have mats, dumbbells, resistance bands, and other equipment. It's not a professional gym, but with a little creativity, you can still get a great workout.

Yoga and Stretching – Some of us prefer something more relaxing, so we take time for yoga, either solo or in small groups. Some organize in the gym, while others prefer doing it in their rooms. The days here can be intense, so a bit of stretching at the end of the day always feels good!

Ping Pong – We also have a ping pong room near the main entrance. It's perfect for quick challenges during breaks. Some of us are really good at it!

Outdoor Sports

Here at Lindersvold, we're fortunate to be surrounded by nature, so we often go outside to work out in the fresh air.

Nature Walks – When we need a break, we go for a walk. There's a beautiful path that leads to the beach, 3 km from here. It's perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view.

Cycling – There are some bikes available, and we often use them to explore the surroundings. Riding along the trails around the school is one of the best ways to get some exercise without even realizing it.

Running – Some of us love to run, and the flat terrain of Denmark makes it easier. Some run to the beach, others do laps around the school, and some even venture as far as the nearest town. However, if you go out in winter, a flashlight is a must – the sun sets very early!

Hiking in the Forest – We don't have mountains, but there are beautiful trails in the woods a few kilometers from here. On our days off, we organize small hikes to break the routine and spend time surrounded by nature. For me, it’s paradise, even with the lack of slope... but you make do (ps: the "highest" mountain here is 170 meters... and that says it all).

...Although most activities are free, some require a small contribution...

Volleyball – Occasionally, on Thursday evenings, we gather to play volleyball in an indoor court about ten kilometers from here. One of our teachers has a team that he plays with every Thursday after dinner. Since we arrived at DRH Lindersvold, we’ve formed a group that joins him and participates in the matches with his friends.

Swimming and Sauna – When we want a change of pace, we head to the public swimming pool nearby. The entrance is quite affordable, and the sauna is an amazing bonus, especially during the colder months. Plus, the pool has diving boards and a climbing platform (another little paradise for me!!!).

For these two activities, we need to pay for the gas for the trips, and in addition, the entrance fee for the pool is 40 Danish kroner, which is about 4.50 euros. As I mentioned before, it's really affordable.

When do we play sports?

Sports here are part of our daily routine. We have dedicated times, but we often also organize ourselves independently:

  • During the week: we do sports activities between 9:00 and 10:00, and sometimes before dinner between 17:00 and 18:00.

  • Group fitness session once a week after dinner.

  • Sunday morning: brunch at 11:00, so there’s time to move before.

  • The gym is always open from 7:30 AM to 9:30 PM, so anyone who wants to train has maximum freedom!

Conclusion

Here at Lindersvold, sports are part of our daily life. There’s always someone ready to play a game, go for a run, or try out a new workout. It’s not just about staying in shape, but also about being together and having fun.
